Few weeks ago, life was different. There was a sense of panic and fear everywhere. However, as I look around now it feels like people have somehow already adjusted to the sudden change in our world. More vehicles are driving around town. More people are going to the stores. Supplies that were rare at the beginning of this Covid season are slowly coming back to the shelves. Life is beginning to feel normal except that many of us are still working from home.
But will life go back to “normal”?
For some reasons, I feel like we are at that point where God is telling me that it’s about time “to go out of the city”. I feel like I am in that point of life where I must leave and go somewhere secluded to prepare better for the crisis that’s about to come, to go and till the land….I feel like I am one of those characters in the story I just read, “War of the Invisibles” Chapter 3 Miriam where their family fled to the wilderness when the Roman soldiers “left” their city.
I’ve started reading EGW’s book Country Living and it’s definitely convicting me to make that necessary move. “Parents flock with their families to the cities, because they fancy it easier to obtain a livelihood there than in the country. The children, having nothing to do when not in school, obtain a street education. From evil associates, they acquire habits of vice and dissipation. The parents see all this, but it will require a sacrifice to correct their error, and they stay where they are, until Satan gains full control of their children. CL 5.2
Better sacrifice any and every worldly consideration than to imperil the precious souls committed to your care. They will be assailed by temptations, and should be taught to meet them; but it is your duty to cut off every influence, to break up every habit, to sunder every tie, that keeps you from the most free, open, and hearty committal of yourselves and your family to God.” CL 5.3
Bethany is only 13 months and a few days old. She doesn’t understand much what’s going on outside her little zone but I would love for her to grow where she can see and listen to the natural surroundings, where her little feet and toes can be able to step on green grass, where her little hands can get dirty in the soil, where she can point at different creatures crawling or flowers blooming, where she can pick some fresh tomatoes and make tomato sauce….away from worldly temptations and snares.
God longs for us to live in a peaceful, quiet place where He can be able to communicate with us better…away from all Satan’s traps and distractions. He longs for us to follow the counsels He has given us. God is going to destroy the cities by earthquakes, fire, and flood because of sin. There’s so many unnameable sin happening every minute in the cities.
What is God trying to tell you in this Covid season?
